ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The online Centralised Admission Process (CAP) has the participation of 296 higher secondary schools and junior colleges in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad this year for the admission to First Year Junior College (FYJC), i.e. class XI courses.

As per the date provided by the Deputy Director of Education, this time, the institutes have a capacity of 1,04,139 seats across streams (Arts, Science, Commerce and Minimum Competency and Vocational Courses). After the low-scoring result of Secondary School Certificate (SSC), in order to make sure that the State Board students too get admissions at premium colleges, the State government had directed to increase around eight to 10 per cent seats at select colleges across the State. A total of 19 schools and colleges have increased their seats in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

With the extension of the deadline, the last date for the students to fill application forms is now July 4. The first merit list for the regular rounds of admissions will be declared on July 12.

While there are a total of 140 schools offering courses in Arts, there are 277 colleges that offer courses in Commerce and Science stream. Along with this, 47 colleges also offer Minimum Competency Vocational Courses.
